Pan-fry chicken until it is fully cooked and set aside. Sauté onion and red pepper with salt and pepper until softened.
Add garlic and curry powder to skillet and cook for one more minute. Add chickpeas then bring to a simmer.
Add coconut milk and simmer until chickpeas are soft and suace is thickened. Stir in sugar and garam masala.
