Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter softened
- ½ cup sugar
- ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup light corn syrup
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
- pinch nutmeg (optional)
- 10 oz dark chocolate chips
- ½ cup pecans optional
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream butter and two sugars together. Add corn syrup, egg, and vanilla.
- In a separate medium-sized bowl, mix together flours, baking soda, sea salt, and nutmeg. Add dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and pecans if desired).
- Optional: For best results, chill dough for at least 30 minutes, ideally an hour or more. This ensures the cookies bake evenly and don't spread.
- Using a cookie scoop, spoon dough onto baking sheet covered with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet.
- Bake at 350˚F for 10-12 minutes or until middle is just set (not shiny). Remove from oven and let cool for 2 minutes then move to a wire rack to cool.
