    ★ Why You'll Love this Recipe ★

Goes Down a Little Too Easily

This camping sangria goes down a little too easily, so pace yourself! It’s fruity, refreshing, and perfect for sipping while you relax by the campfire. A cup or two is plenty—especially if you snack on the fruit, too.

    Sangria Made for Sharing

Sangria is the ultimate social drink, and this recipe is no exception. Mix up a batch and make friends around the campsite—everyone will want a glass.

    Perfect for Travel

Designed with camping in mind, this sangria is easy to prep and pack ahead. The method for mixing and storing keeps it fresh and portable, so you’re always ready to enjoy a cocktail in the great outdoors.

    Endlessly Customizable

The best part? You can make this sangria your own. Use whatever fruit and soda you have on hand—peaches, strawberries, grapes, or something new each trip. Every batch is a little different and always a fun surprise.

    ★ Ingredients You'll Need ★

Here's everything you'll need to mix up this camping sangria.

    • Peaches
    • Strawberries
    • Green grapes
    • Lemon, juice only.
    • White wine. Semi-sweet.
    • Vodka. Plain or choose a fruit flavor.
    • Lemon-lime soda. Or any non-carbonated fruit juice.

★ How to Make this Recipe ★

Watch this how-to video to see easy it is to make this mason jar sangria:

    ★ Tips & FAQs ★

What do I need to make this portable for camping?

So, you'll need a few things to make this portable and suitable for camping:
A quart-sized mason jar with lid
    1-gallon pitcher or dispenser
    A wine cork
Mason jars are great for camping because it allows you to store your sangria concentrate. Then you can repurpose the mason jar as a drinking glass once you mix the sangria in your pitcher. Add a lid to keep out bugs and prevent spills. Buy mason jar lids on Amazon.

What fruits work best in this sangria?

Truly, any combination of fruits can work in a sangria. You can get as creative as you want when you pick your fruits. I made another batch and tried to pick more tropical fruits in order to give it that vacationy-vibe! So choose your favorite fruit combo.

    What mixer is best?

You can also choose your favorite carbonated or non-carbonated beverage. I've tried Fresca, ginger ale, cranberry juice, and Sprite. Any carbonated or non carbonated juice works as a mixer.

How can I add more flavor?

Adding just a little bit of lemon juice or lime juice, makes the fruits in this sangria "pop" and gives the drink a really delicious but slightly more tart flavor. Add if you want — totally optional!

What type of vodka works best?

Pain or you can also try flavored vodka. That's another way to customize the taste of this sangria. There are so many vodka falvors now, the possibilities are endless!

    What are some good variations?

You'll see my tropical variation if you click to the left on the image slider above where I used Limoncello (instead of vodka) peaches, pineapples, papaya and cran-pineapple juice for a more tropical flavor. Campsite luau anyone??

Looks wonderful! Wondering how you could serve up a glass at a time with adding all of your carbonated drink at one time? Thanks

We used to get watermelons, cut a hole in it & put vodka, rum, tequila & anything else that we liked at the time. We let it soak overnight & drained the juice off for "cocktails" & ate the watermelon. Awesome & very intoxicating!

I just tried this recipe this weekend. I customized it to try what I liked and it was so yummy! I did the same fruit but I chose to use 44 north (huckleberry vodka), barefoot moscato and fresca. It was amazing!

I would recommend a sweet wine to compliment the fruit but dry works too. I would go with whatever type of wine you normally prefer. That's the beauty of this sangria. It's totally customizable to your own preferences in fruit or wine.

Great idea to use frozen fruit! I bet that helps it stay cooler longer while you're in transit. Totally going to try that next time I make this. Thanks for the feedback! 🙂

Are you able to just leave the fruit out of this?
Also would you be able to freeze it for it to stay cooler longer ?

        Hi Tiff,
You only need the fruit to make it authentically "sangria" but if you aren't worried about it being authentic, then I think you could do without the fruit and it would still be decent. Or maybe substitute some juice for added flavor. I haven't tried freezing it, but that's not a bad idea in order to keep it cold longer. I would not freeze it in a glass mason jar though since that could break the jar. I just transported mine in an insulated cooler bag and then served each cup over ice that we picked up at the general store on the campgrounds. Thanks for the good questions. Enjoy!

Never had this before. So do you serve the drinks with some fruit in each cup also or do you keep it in the container for a 2nd mix of refills?

Hi Mondo, You can serve sangria with or without the fruit, just keep in mind the fruit does absorb a lot of alcohol so your drinks will be very strong and if people eat the fruit too then they are really going to feel it! You can refill for a second round, but the fruit will loss some of it's flavor-enhancing powers.

You can use any fruits. Peaches happen to be one of my favorites but I realize I may be *special* so yes, absolutely, mix it up. Try different fruits and flavors of vodka. Whatever sounds good to you, mix it up!

Can this be made 3days ahead of time or best if only chilled around 24 hours

        Hi Penny,
I think this would be OK to make and chill for a few days as long as the fruit is relatively fresh when you start. I do think it would be better if it's chilled for less time though so the fruit doesn't start to break down.

Thanks for the tip! I think I'd like Sprite better too. I'm totally a lemon-lime girl. I just happened to have leftover Fresca that no one wanted when I made this the first time, lol.
