★ Ingredients You'll Need ★
A Layered Approach
This delicious French toast layers together 3 main parts: apples, French toast and toppings.
Here's everything you'll need.
Sautéed Apples
- Green apple. Granny Smith or use your preferred type of apple.
- Butter. Salted.
French Toast
- Cinnamon bread. Bakery fresh or Pepperidge Farms works.
- Eggs.
Toppings
- Greek yogurt. Vanilla or your favorite flavor.
- Caramel syrup.
- Walnuts. Chopped lightly toasted.
★ Tips & FAQs ★
Yes! While cinnamon bread adds extra flavor, you can use brioche, challah, or thick-cut white bread. Just sprinkle a little cinnamon-sugar over the bread before cooking to mimic that cinnamon swirl taste.
Granny Smith apples are a great choice for their tart flavor, which balances the sweetness of the caramel. Honeycrisp or Fuji apples also work if you prefer a sweeter result.
Absolutely. Walnuts add a nice crunch and some protein, but you can substitute pecans, almonds, or leave the nuts out entirely if preferred.
You can replace Greek yogurt with whipped cream, mascarpone, ice cream, regular yogurt, or coconut cream for a similar creamy topping.
