★ Ingredients You'll Need ★
You'll need just 5 total ingredients to make this yummy smoothie.
- Pineapple. Fresh or canned is fine. Just be sure to freeze the pineapple first to help chill and thicken your smoothie without the need for ice.
- Banana. Peel, slice, and freeze the banana before blending. Slicing isn't required but it does help a low-powered blender to puree a little easier.
- Greek yogurt. I like sweetened vanilla yogurt with this recipe; however, if you are trying to cut down on sugar, go with plain yogurt.
- Orange juice. This ingredient is key to adding extra flavor as well as vitamin C.
- Coconut milk. You don't need much but this does add a nice flavor as well as some protein, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. If you don't have coconut milk, you can substitute with another type of milk of your choice or more Greek yogurt.
You'll love this blend of flavors and each has some unique health benefits to offer as well.
★ How to Make this Recipe ★
This smoothie is very easy to make and takes just 5 minutes. Perfect for busy mornings or afternoons.
First add frozen fruit, Greek yogurt, coconut milk, and juice to the blend. The liquids should help loosen the frozen solid fruits enough to get the puree process started. Pulse as needed and use a utensil in between pulsing to dislodge pieces that may get stuck.
You can use a blender or a food processor. I've found that a food processor sometimes works better since it's flatter and has bigger blades than a blender.

Sweetened or Unsweetened Yogurt
It’s up to you whether you’d like to use a sweetened or unsweetened yogurt! An unsweetened yogurt will yield a healthier breakfast style smoothie while a sweetened one makes this taste more like a treat.
If you can’t find unsweetened vanilla flavored yogurt, use a plain yogurt and add ¼ to ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
Add Protein
Using Greek yogurt gives this smoothie around 12g protein. If you want even more, pair it with your favorite protein powder!
Whats the best way to freeze a banana?
To freeze your banana, first peel it. Then cut it into 6-8 pieces and freeze for at least 3-4 hours. Bananas can be frozen for up to 6 months
Can I use non-frozen fruit for this pineapple smoothie?
You can use non-frozen fruit if you prefer; however, the frozen pineapple and banana help to yield a thick and creamy smoothie consistency while non-frozen fruit will yield a much thinner consistency.
If you prefer a thicker consistency without using frozen fruit, feel free to add a handful of ice to your smoothie.
Do I need to use vanilla flavored Greek yogurt?
The vanilla flavored Greek yogurt lends flavor, texture, and protein to this pineapple banana smoothie. You can use any yogurt that you like here, whether it’s sweetened, plain, or non-dairy.
How do I make this pineapple banana smoothie sweeter?
You can sweeten this smoothie by adding honey or agave nectar.
What if I don’t like my smoothies very sweet?
I recommend using unsweetened yogurt. This also lowers the sugar you'll intake making this a healthier option.
Are smoothies suitable for kids?
Yes, smoothies can be a great way to sneak in fruits and vegetables for children. I've found kids love smoothies of all flavors and you can even take the smoothie and pour it into a popsicle mold to make your own healthy popsicles. Kids love this!
