What’s the difference between apple cider and witch’s brew? Floating heads of course!
This easy apple cider punch recipe will add the perfect touch to your Halloween party!
You can add in fruit juice of your choice for a more sophisticate fall flavor — cranberry juice pairs nicely with apple cider, or just use plain apple cider and add apple heads to keep it simple.
Do you serve this Halloween punch warm or cold?
You can serve it either way. I prefer it a bit warm at least, especially on hot days. But Halloween is one of those holidays, especially depending on where you live, that the weather could go either way — hot or chilly. So, this unch is great in that it’s flexible.
You can serve this apple cider punch warm from a crockpot, or get festive and serve it from a cauldron punch bowl!
How to carve the apples to look like heads.
It’s actually easier than you might think to transform and ordinary apple into a spooky face!
First, peel the apples then float each one in the cider to see which side faces up. Use that side to carve your face.
To craft the face, carefully carve out eyes, a nose and a mouth using the sharp end of the peeler or a paring knife. You can make the facial features in whatever shapes you want. I like to get inspired by pumpkin faces, so think triangle eyes, toothy grins, and you can even add eyebrows to really make the faces come to life.
Once you’ve carved your apple head, simply return them to the punch bowl and let them float them on top of the punch. c
Once the punch is finished, you can eat the apples or you can leave them out to dry. Once they dry for about a week, the skin turns brown in color and starts to wrinkle. They really begin to look spooky then!
An easy, spooky Halloween punch!
As you can see there isn’t much this isn’t too much to this “recipe” per say. It’s really just a super cute edible decoration for a fall or Halloween themed party.
Want a spiked punch?
Try adding Tennessee Honey Whiskey. It tastes absolutely delicious with the apple cider!
Looking for a punch with some extra special effects?
Try adding dry ice to the punch to create a creepy fog that drifts out of the bowl. Just be sure no one ingests the dry ice. 😉
Or, you can add a layer of froth by adding a few scoops of orange sherbet to the punch.
