★ Ingredients You'll Need ★
You'll need just 5 ingredients for the dip plus food color to make it Grinch colored and heart sprinkles to complete the Grinchy vibe.
- Cream cheese: Make sure to soften the cream cheese before you need it so that it blends easily into the other ingredients. You can also start with whipped cream cheese to save time.
- Powdered sugar: If possible, sift the sugar for clumps before you use it.
- Milk: Any milk you have on hand will work for the dip.
- Vanilla extract: The better quality of vanilla you use, the more the flavor will shine through.
Here's a time saver: You can buy ready-made cheesecake filling and just use that in place of these 4 ingredients! It's in a large tub in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores.
- Cool Whip. Or store-brand frozen whipped topping. Ideally you'll want to have this defrosted before you need it, it blends a little better.
- Neon green food coloring: You specifically want neon green so that the color really comes through. Regular green will work but result might not give that Grinch green we all know and love.
- Red heart sprinkles: These are used to decorate the dip and give it a classic Grinch look. You can find them only or I used a Valentine's sprinkle mix and just picked out the heart. You don't need a lot, just a few to decorate the top. You could also use heart-shapes Red Hot candies.

★ Tips & FAQs ★
What to Serve with Grinch Dip
Classic dippers: Serve the dip alongside a spread of pretzels, cookies, Oreos, Nilla wafers, or graham crackers to dip. Christmas cookies work too! Make sure the cookies are pretty firm so that they don’t break.
Fruit: Add some strawberries, pineapple, apple slices, or grapes with the dip.
Try this dip as a frosting!
Use this Grinch dip as a frosting on top of your favorite cookies or even cupcakes. Pipe it on just like frosting. Keep in mind because the dipv contains dairy, you'll need to refrigerate.
How can I soften cream cheese quickly?
Microwave your cream cheese (removed from the wrapping) on the defrost setting for intervals of 10-20 seconds until thawed.
What do I do with leftovers?
Store any leftover Grinch dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Why do I need to fold in the Cool Whip?
Basically, you want to gently be flipping the Cool Whip from the bottom over the sweet cream cheese until you no longer see green or white streaks. You do this by using a scooping motion where the spatula cuts through the center of the whipped cream. This is what creates such an airy and light dip! Mixing with a mix might let some of the air out, resulting in a more dense dip (although still very yummy.)
Can I make this dip in advance?
The Grinch dip will taste best freshly made or chilled and served within the hour. Make sure not to put the red hearts on until you’re ready to serve it though as otherwise the color will bleed into the dip a bit.
