Here's an old fashioned recipe you might know and love — Strawberry Jello Pie!
An Easy Summer Barbecue Dessert
This strawberry Jello pie is light and fluffy like mousse, with a sweet and creamy flavor. It's served cool and requires no baking so it's a perfect dessert for summer barbecues.
Ready to eat in 30 minutes!
It takes a total of 10 minutes to prep this pie and then about 20 minutes to chill it so it sets. Make it the night before and be on your way out the door to a summer dinner party, potluck or barbecue with friends.
Make with real whipped cream or Cool Whip.
You can make this with whipped heavy cream or Cool Whip. Using real whipped cream provides a thicker, creamier texture that goes well with the strawberry flavor but it's a bit richer. So if you prefer a lighter taste or if you're just trying to save time, try Cool Whip!
Choose your own toppings for this strawberry Jello pie!
Top with fresh fruit—strawberries, bananas, raspberries and blueberries are all good choices. Really, any fresh fruit would taste great. You could also top with shaved chocolate or chocolate syrup.
Mix in fresh strawberries.
Want more texture and fresh strawberry taste? Fold chopped strawberries into the whipped cream and Jello mixture before you add to the graham cracker crust.
You can also add strawberries to the top as a garnish. If you want to go all out, trying adding a halved strawberry, dollop of whipped cream and a mint leaf to each slice.
Make your own graham cracker crust.
Prefer homemade? Make your own crust by blending 1 sleeve of graham crackers with ยฝ cup melted butter and 1 tablespoon sugar in a food processor. Press into a pie pan.
Try an Oreo crust!
Chocolate and strawberries go well together don't you think? Exactly why an Oreo crust would be just as delicious as a graham cracker crust. You really can't go wrong with this strawberry Jello pie!
Try different flavors of Jello.
This recipe works with any flavor Jello, not just strawberry.
Try orange Jello for an orange creamsicle flavored pie! Or any flavor that sounds good to you.
You can also choose by color if you're trying to match the theme of a party. For example, try blue raspberry if you're hosting a shark themed party and top with Swedish fish! Or if you make and orange flavored pie, top with fresh oranges. Don't be afraid to get creative! You really can't go wrong here.

The directions are not accurate. If you pour hot boiling water into the whipped cream it will create a curdled mess. You need to cool the jello water first...

@Kristen, it says let the jello get room temp. before adding it to the whipped cream.
