    ★ Why You’ll Love this Recipe ★

These spinach dip pinwheels are a great little appetizer or summer snack! These are served cold, no baking needed. Just mix up the dip, spread it on a tortilla wrap and roll! Slice into bite-sized pinwheels.

    Packed with Flavor

This spinach dip is very easy to make, starting with Knorr® Vegetable recipe mix! This seasoning packet is the base for awesome flavor with minimal effort.

    Packed with Healthy Veggies

These spinach dip pinwheels are creamy and rich with flavor. The medley of vegetables bring a freshness to these pinwheels to complement the rich creamy texture.

    Crunchy

Water chestnut add a little bit of crunch and green onions add a mild spice and bite. The perfect balance to the creamy spinach mix.

    Choose Your Tortilla Type

Choose a vegetable based tortilla for an extra layer of flavor! You can go with whole wheat, spinach or tomato tortillas. All of them are good choice and compliment this dip. It also add an element of color! Experiment and see what you like the taste of best.

    ★ Ingredients You'll Need ★

You'll need some raw vegetables, seasoning, and a creamy base to make the filling. Then roll that up into any flavor tortilla you want.

Ingredients to Make Spinach Dip Pinwheels

    Here's exactly what you'll need:

    1. Spinach. I use frozen chopped spinach but you can also use fresh spinach and chop it yourself if you prefer.
    2. Carrot. One carrot, peeled and grated adds flavor, texture, color and vitamins!
    3. Cream cheese. You'll ideally want to pick up whipped cream cheese. The light and fluffy texture makes the filling ingredient much easier to mix together. If using a block of cream cheese, you may need an electric mixer (or some serious elbow grease as my dad would say) to combine everything.
    4. Sour cream. Just a touch of sour cream adds a tart note to this dip, enhancing the freshness and flavor of the filling.
    5. Mayonnaise. This tried and true condiment gets mixed in to add a smooth richness that also helps hold the filling together. (you only need a little bit!)
    6. Knorr® Vegetable recipe mix seasoning. This seasoning mix comes in little packets and is where all the magic happens! If you want to jazz up your spinach dip, this is just what you need.
    7. Water chestnuts. This fun little ingredient adds a refreshing crunch to an otherwise creamy filling.
    8. Green onion. This adds a mild spice and a lot of freshness which balances out the creaminess nicely.
    9. Flour tortillas. These come in a variety of flavors like spinach, tomato, or whole wheat.

★ How to Make this Recipes ★

Here's a look at how to make these Spinach Dip Pinwheels for your next party.

How to Make Spinach Dip Pinwheels
    1. Fix mix together spinach, carrot, sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Knorr® Vegetable recipe mix seasoning, water chestnuts and green onions.
    2. Cover and chill the dip filling.
    3. Next, spread chilled spinach dip filling onto tortillas.
    4. Roll up tortillas to form a log.
    5. Finally slice into pinwheels, chill and serve!
    6. Make a dip from the leftover filling by adding more sour cream and mayonnaise to taste.

    ★ Tips & FAQs ★

Offer the Filling as a Dip

The spinach dip filling for these pinwheels can served as a dip with fresh vegetables like baby carrots or crackers. I like to serve half the filling as a dip, and some as pinwheels. So you are getting a two-for-one appetizer recipe here!

I do recommend adding in extra mayo and sour cream to thin out the filling and make it more like a dip.

How long do cold spinach pinwheels last in the fridge?

These spinach dip pinwheels will last up to 24 hours in the fridge before they will start to loose flavor and become soggy. It's best to assemble the pinwheels immediately before serving.
I would not recommend freezing these pinwheels.

Should pinwheels be served hot or cold?

These pinwheels are served cold. If you're looking for a hot spinach appetizer, check out my hot Spinach Artichoke Dip recipe!

What vegetables and crackers are best with spinach dip?

Any dry cracker will be great with this serves as a dip. I like butter crackers, bagel chips, Melba toast, Wheat Thins, Ritz crackers, multi-grain cracker, even pumpernickel bread is is delicious!
Any raw vegetables would be good with this spinach dip including baby carrots, broccoli florets, cauliflower, bell peppers and cucumbers.

    Instructions

    • In a large bowl, stir to combine spinach, carrot, sour cream, mayonnaise, cream cheese, vegetable recipe mix seasoning, water chestnuts and green onions.
    • Cover spinach dip bowl with plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours or over night. This helps firm the roll so the log is easier to cut.
    • Once chilled, remove plastic and stir. Then spread a little less than ½ cup of spinach dip onto each tortilla all the way to the edges and then tightly roll the tortilla up to form a thick log.
    • Slice each rolled log 4-5 pinwheels.
    • Arrange pinwheels on a platter and serve cold.
    • Use any extra filling to serve as a dip. Add extra mayo and sour cream to thin as desired.

    Notes

Spinach dip filling will need to marinate before serving. You can let marinate in the fridge in a bowl before adding to tortillas to prevent soggy tortillas. However, rolls can also be prepared and then refrigerated without a big issue as tortillas are inherently not super prone to absorbing liquid.
*Using whipped cream cheese will make this much easier to stir. If you are using a block of cream cheese, you may need to use a hand mixer to combine ingredients to create the spinach dip filling.
**Add extra sour cream and mayonnaise to the leftover spinach filling to create a dip for vegetables. This just thins out the filling to make it more like a dip. Add to taste.

I'm trying to make this recipe gluten free, is there an alternate seasoning to the Knorr Vegetable Mix you would recommend?

I have not tried any of these myself, but there are some mixes available that are marked as gluten-free. I did a search on Amazon for "gluten-free vegetable dip mix" and came up with these gluten-free dip mixes you could try. There may be other mixes available at your local grocery store too. Any blend of vegetables would work well with this recipe!
