If you're looking for a quick dinner hack, but something a step above a plain bowl of ramen noodles, try this doctored version that include vegetables, a yummy sauce, and a protein of your choice (optional).

    ★ Why You'll Love this Recipe ★

The recipe takes just 10 minutes to prepare! Add a cooked protein or leave this dish vegetarian.

The versatile recipe can be made with chicken, beef, vegetable or shrimp base, any vegetables but we're using a frozen stir-fry medley to save time and add a bunch of veggies.

A simple sauce made with garlic, sweet chili sauce, ginger powder, mirin, soy sauce, and sesame oil is the key to elevating packaged ramen.

Add sliced green onions as a garnish for extra freshness and sesame seeds for added crunch and flavor.

    ★ Ingredients You'll Need ★

Here's everything you need to make this simple doctored ramen stir fry:

    • The sauce: garlic, sweet chili sauce, ginger, mirin, soy sauce, and sesame oil. You can use garlic and ginger powder or paste depending on what's available to you.
    • Instant Ramen. Use any variety — vegetable, chicken, beef, or shrimp. Creamy and spicy version also work great.
    • Frozen stir-fry vegetables. Choose you favorite blend of mixed veggies.
    • Optional: a protein of your choice.

    That's it!

Time-saving tip: If you're short on time, you can use bottled stir fry sauce + sweet chili sauce to taste, instead of making your own sauce from scratch.

★ How to Make this Recipe ★

This stir fry is incredibly quick and easy to make.

Here's a look at the process:

    ★ Tips & FAQs ★

Can I customize this recipe to my liking?

Yes. The possibilities are endless! You can add your favorite variety of vegetables or fresh veggies such as bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms.

Protein options include chicken, beef, shrimp, egg and/or tofu. Choose your instant ramen to match your protein or mix and match.

If adding an egg, push noodles and veggies aside and crack one or two eggs into the skillet after vegetables have softened. Scramble until almost fully cooked then toss the scrambled eggs in with the noodles right before serving.

Experiment with layering in different sauces like teriyaki, hoisin, or Sriracha for added flavor.

The beauty of doctored ramen stir fry is its versatility. Experiment with different combinations of vegetables, proteins, and sauces until you find the perfect blend that suits your taste.

Can I make this vegetarian or vegan?

Yes. Simply skip the meat and opt for tofu or a variety of colorful vegetables. Ensure that the ramen, sauces and seasonings you choose are vegetarian or vegan-friendly by checking the ingredients panel.

Are there any specific ramen noodle recommendations?

While you can use any type of ramen noodles, many prefer using the instant noodles that come with flavor packets for convenience. You can also try using fresh or homemade noodles for a different texture or Japanese-style ramen noodles which tend to hold up a bit better than instant ramen.

Can I make this ramen stir fry spicy?

You can add spice to your stir fry by incorporating ingredients like chili flakes, Sriracha, extra sweet chili sauce, or other spicy sauces. Adjust the spice level according to your preference.

Can I use bottled stir fry sauce?

Yes, you can use store-bought stir-fry sauce to save time. You can use bottled stir fry sauce in place of the making your own sauce. It's not required but I recommend also adding sweet chili sauce to taste to add a touch of heat and sweetness.

    Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for a day or two; however, keep in mind that the texture of the noodles may change upon reheating and some ingredients may lose their crispness.

Reheat on the stove or in the microwave, adding a splash of water or broth if needed.

This dish does not freeze well and is recommended to enjoy fresh for the best texture and flavor.

    Instructions

    • Prepare ramen noodles. Add water and ramen seasoning packet to dry ramen noodles and microwave for 1 minute to soft. Toss to evenly coat noodles and set aside.
    • Cook veggies. Heat sesame oil over medium heat in a large wok or skillet, until it shimmers. Add garlic and ginger to the hot pan and saute for 1 minute or until fragrant.
Add frozen vegetables and toss to coat in the oil and garlic-ginger mixture and then turn heat down to medium-low heat.
Cover and cook for 7-10 minutes or until the vegetables are softened as desired.
    • Prepare sauce. While vegetables are cooking, in a small mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sweet chili sauce and mirin until combined.
    • Combine. Add cooked ramen noodles and ½ cup of the mixed sauce in with the vegetables and toss to combine.
Heat for 1-2 minutes or until warmed to your desired temperature.
Pour over remaining sauce and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds, optional.
