A Well-tested Recipe
After spending way too much money on buying Pink Drinks at Starbucks, I decided to look into what ingredients are in their drink. From there I experimented with combing different juices to try and match the flavor of their drink.
The trickiest part was getting the color right too. I found some juices had a nice flavor but not the right color and vice versa. I finally found a simple combination of ingredients that gives you that perfect pink color and great flavor! This is what I make several times a week, my kids love it and so do their friends.
If you're looking for a recipe that is very easy and tastes amazing, this is the one for you!
Try adding foam!
Much like my well-loved pink party punch, this single-serve pink drink is delicious with froth.
You can create some fun variations of this drink by adding homemade cold foam or just top with whipped cream.
For an extra special treat, try chocolate cold foam.
Layer on chocolate cold foam for a fun twist and to really do it up, you can even drizzle in chocolate syrup. This is sometimes known as a "chocolate covered strawberry" variation of the pink drink. Super fun for special occasions like Valentine's Day or a birthday treat!
★ Ingredients You'll Need ★
All you need is 3 ingredients to make this Pink Drink, plus ice. So simple yet actually tastes great.
Here's what you need:
- White Cran-Strawberry juice. Ocean spray makes this. It can sometimes be hard to find since it sells out quickly, but they do stock it at most grocery stores.
- Coconut milk. You can find this in the refrigerated section at the grocery store near the milk. I use the brand Silk. Just original coconut milk is what you want. You can use canned coconut milk, but it's much thicker and has a stronger coconut flavor.
- Freeze-dried strawberries. These are added to the drink after blending and add to the flavor once they've had time to steep a little.
★ How to Make this Pink Drink Recipe ★
This Pink Drink can be made right in a drinking glass. I like to use a wide-mouth mason jar or a reusable Starbucks cup, but any drinking glass that will accommodate your handheld blender will work.
Just 3 simple steps:
- Pour coconut milk and cran-strawberry juice into your glass.
- Blend these liquids together using a frothing wand or you can use a handheld immersion blender. You can also use a fork to stir vigerously, if you don't have these electric tools.
- Add ice then top with freeze-dried strawberries.
Optional: For extra sweetness, color and flavor, add grenadine to taste. This gets the flavor closer to the actual Starbuck's Pink Drink, however, I prefer mine less sweet so I do not use this when I make my pink drinks at home.
That's it! Super simple. Super yummy!
Want to add cold foam?
I usually just top my pink drinks with whipped cream but you can easily make your own cold foam if you prefer! Here's how:
- Add 3 tablespoon of milk to a cup. (skim milk works best because it's light, however you can use any type of milk, cream, coconut milk or oat milk)
- Add 1 teaspoon of simple syrup (add more or less to taste)
- Blend using a frothing wand or immersion blender.
- Top your pink drink with the cold foam!
For chocolate cold foam: use heavy cream instead of milk and add chocolate syrup or cocoa powder to taste! This creates a "chocolate covered strawberry" flavor that's amazing and great for celebrating special occasions like Valentine's Day or birthdays.
Shortcut: Top with canned whipped cream instead of cold foam.
★ Tools You'll Need ★
Immersion Blender
You will need a handheld immersion blender or a frothing wand to make this work.
You can get a handheld blender as cheap as $20 and a frothing wand for even less. If you don't want to buy anything special, you could also use a hand mixer, and either use a large cup or blend everything in a bowl, then transfer to a cup.
The reason you need this special tool is to blend the coconut milk fat with the juice. If you don't blend these two ingredient together well, the coconut milk will separate from the juice and look sort of curdled.
So if you're committed to making the best Pink Drink at home, you'll want to invest in this tool. You can also use an immersion blend for really delicious guacamole and for frothy your coffee.
Reusable Starbucks Drink Cup
Love your Starbucks? Me too! But it's an expensive treat so making your own drinks in a Starbucks cup is a great way to get that same experience, while saving money making this drink at home.
Ice Maker
This is totally not a necessary tool but it saves time. Since we do not have an ice maker built into our fridge, we have this stand-alone version.
The kids use it to fill their sports bottles and we even take it camping. So, if you're tired of ice trays, look into getting an ice maker. We love ours!

Notes
- If you do not use an electric blending device, the coconut milk may not combine well with the juice or may easily separate creating a curdled look. To avoid this, blend using a handheld frother or an immersion blender.
- Grenadine is a cocktail mixer that sweetens and add fruit flavor. This is an excellent, easy add-in if you are looking for more robust flavor. It's not required and my teenagers and I prefer it without, but some like that hit of extra sweetness so I wanted to offer it as an option.
- To add variations of cold foam see notes in How to Make this Recipe section, above.

Jill Antonelli says
I was wondering what the measurements would be to make a pitcher of this pink drink?!
Angela G. says
Hi Jill, A standard pitcher typically holds 64oz (1/2 gallon). To make a full 64 oz pitcher of Pink Drink, use 7 ¼ cups cran-strawberry juice and ¾ cup plus 2 teaspoons of coconut milk. This scales up the original single-serving recipe by about 5.8 times so should serve about 6 people. Hope this helps and you don't have to get the measurements exactly right for it to still taste good.
