    Stores Well

The best part about making your own dressing is that it stores well. So you can make a big batch, use some on your salad and then save the rest for another day.

I like to make dressing in a salad dressing mason jar. Just add all the ingredients, screw on the lid, shake it up and it's ready to go. Easy. Delicious.

    Save Money

Often, it's cheaper to make your own salad dressing. With food costs rising, it's helpful to make certain things yourself. Sauces and dressing are easy to make and often can be made out of ingredients you already have.

    No cooking required.

This poppy seed dressing requires you to just mix together some key ingredients — mo cooking is required, making it quick and easy to whip up.

    ★ Tips & FAQs ★

How long does homemade poppy seed dressing last?

Homemade creamy poppy seed dressing typically lasts up to 1 month in the fridge when stored in an airtight container. Because it often contains dairy like Greek yogurt or mayo, and no preservatives, it's best to smell and stir before each use and discard it if you notice any off smell or mold.

What goes with poppy seed dressing?

Poppy seed dressing pairs well with fruits like strawberries, apples, and oranges, plus savory items like grilled chicken, turkey, bacon, feta, or nuts. It’s great on spinach, spring mix, or romaine and adds a sweet, tangy touch to summer salads. Try my Strawberry Chicken Spinach Salad.

    Instructions

    • Make the dressing. In a jar or small bowl combine all of the dressing ingredients except poppy seeds. Mix together and then add poppy seeds and shake or stir to combine fully.
    • Use or store. Pour dressing over a salad or add a lid and store in the fridge.

    Notes

    • Feel free to thin out the dressing by adding a teaspoon or two of water.
    • For a less creamy, thinner dressing, replace the mayo with avocado oil.
    • Shake before each use.
