Fresh herbs: Herbs like mint and basil are delicious chopped and mixed into the fruit salad or used as a garnish on top to add some color and scent.
Fruit: Any fruit can work for the salad. Pears, apples, grapes, and oranges all make delicious substitutions. Just make sure you purchase seedless grapes if you go that route. Also, know that something like apples and pears will brown a bit once cut so you may not want to prep the salad in advance if using those fruits.
How do I store this salad?
If you know you won’t be eating the fruit salad for a day or so, store the chopped fruit and the salad dressing separately in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, drizzle the dressing on top.

If stored in the fridge in an airtight container, the fruit salad will stay fresh for about 36 hours. After which the fruits become a bit too tender from the dressing.
Can I use frozen fruit for the salad?
Frozen fruit will thaw and add additional water to the fruit salad. Likewise, the fruit itself will lose its texture. So, for this salad, fresh fruit works best.
