When you want something with some kick, one of my favorite beverages is a mule!
Typically a mule is made with a ginger beer base, some sort of citrus, usually lemon or lime and, if you're making a traditional cocktail, a liquor like vodka or bourbon.
What's in this Spicy Jalapeño Mule?
This delicious drink, like a typical Mule, is made with ginger beer. Layered in, are fresh jalapeño slices, lime juice and agave nectar. All served over crushed ice making this an excellent summer cocktail but really is good all year long as well.
Make it a mocktail!
Sometimes, you just want a fancy drink without the alcohol. Maybe you don't drink alcohol, you're trying go be healthier, you're on-call for work, pregnant, or just are trying to abstain from alcohol for another reason. There's no reason you shouldn't enjoy a tasty mixed drink just because it doesn't have alcohol!
So this drink recipe is specially designed to taste amazing without alcohol.
Make it a cocktail!
Maybe you're no longer pregnant, abstaining from alcohol or have friends who want to try this drink with a little extra kick. You can absolutely add alcohol to this recipe. I'd recommend adding 1-2oz of vodka to this recipe in place of 1-2oz of ginger beer. You can add extra agave nectar to sweeten this as a cocktail if you feel it needs it.
What type of drinkware to use?
This spicy mule is such a pretty drink with the green of the jalapeño and lime, bubbles from the ginger beer and a hint of golden brown from the agave nectar. So, I like to serve it in a lowball glass, otherwise known as a rocks glass.
If you love that traditional and iconic copper mug look though, you can definitely serve this mule mocktail in a copper mug.

What can I substitute for agave nectar please?
Angela G. says
Hi Suraya, You could go with anything sweet: simple syrup, honey, rose's lime juice, grenadine... any syrup!
