★ Why You'll Love this Recipe ★
It's a show-stopper.
Fruit pizza is such a fun treat because it looks as good as it tastes. It's bright and colorful and has a fun pattern to it that almost reminds me of an old-fashioned quilt. So it give nostalgic vibes which just fits so swimmingly with summer picnics and family gatherings.
This recipe is super simple.
You can certainly make your own sugar cookie dough or your own cream cheese frosting if you have time. But if you're in a pinch, pre-made sugar cookie dough and canned cream cheese frosting saves so much time.
I like to make my own cream cheese frosting because it's quick to do and I find it tastes better. But honestly, store-bought sugar cookie dough is YUMMY. So I don't ever make the cookie dough from scratch. I just buy it already mixed and ready to roll out. Saves a bunch of time.
Feel free to "cheat" with pre-made sugar cookie dough or store bought cream cheese frosting — or both!
Choose your favorites fruits.
There is no right or wrong as far as what fruits you add. Add fruits in a circular pattern and you can't go wrong. You can get as creative as you want or just keep it simple by using one type of fruit to make a complete circle and then just create rings of fruit until your fruit pizza is fully topped.
★ Ingredients You'll Need ★
Here's everything you'll need for the pizza and homemade cream cheese frosting.
- Cream Cheese Frosting: Powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla. Feel free to use store-bought cream cheese frosting to save time.
- Cookie Dough: Refrigerated Pillsbury sugar cookie dough or choose your favorite brand of sugar cookies dough.
- Fruits: I use strawberries, kiwi, mango (peaches or mandarin orange also work), blueberries, and grapes. Feel free to use any type of fruit. The only fruit that is a bit tricky is watermelon because it's so watery. But if you blot excess juice before layering it onto the pizza, it works out okay. Apples and bananas also tend to brown quickly so those are not ideal.

★ Tips & FAQs ★
The frosting on fruit pizza is typically a creamy, sweet layer made from a blend of softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Some homemade versions add a bit of lemon juice to enhance the flavor of the fruit topping.
You can also use store-bought cream cheese frosting.
You can make fruit pizza the night before, but for best results, it’s a good idea to assemble it in stages. Bake the sugar cookie crust and mix the cream cheese frosting ahead of time, then store them separately—keep the crust covered at room temperature and the frosting in the fridge. If you add the fruit too early, it can release juices and make the crust soggy, so it’s best to add the frosting and fresh fruit shortly before serving or a few hours in advance at most.
Yes, fruit pizza should be refrigerated after assembling to keep the cream cheese frosting and fruit fresh and safe. Eat within 2–3 days for best quality however, fruit pizza is best eaten fresh or within 1 day as it may become soggy as time goes on.
Fruit pizza is often topped with strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, peaches, mango, raspberries, blackberries, and/or pineapple. Mix and match based on season or taste—just choose colorful, firm fruits that aren’t too juicy.
Avoid watery fruits like watermelon or mandarin oranges unless you bloat away excess liquid first. You also want to avoid fruits that brown quickly, like bananas and apples (unless treated with lemon juice).
